Capital Opportunity for Social Entrepreneurs Focused on Early Childhood

Gary Community Investments Seeks Letters of Interest from Social Enterprises

For the past several years, I have been working with the Board and Staff of Gary Community Investments (GCI) as we’ve created—and are now executing—an integrated, impact investing approach to expanding opportunities for under-served children, their families and communities. For the first time in the organization’s history, GCI is seeking Letters of Interest (LOIs) from nonprofit and for-profit as well as government agencies. Successful candidates may be both from within or outside the State of Colorado—but must focus their strategy in the Denver metro area.

GCI’s LOI opportunities have specific focus areas that align with our overall impact investing strategy and theory of change. The one I think may be of most interest to many is within our Early Childhood Development Social Enterprise category. Through this LOI, we’re looking to address the challenge of children under the age of five not receiving the resources they need to be ready for school and have the opportunity to succeed. We believe social enterprises have the ability to address this issue and are seeking inquiries from both new and existing social enterprises requiring funding for capacity building and/or technical assistance to develop, expand, and improve their social enterprise strategy as it relates to meeting early childhood needs. The submission window is limited: LOIs are due July 24, 2015. If you’re interested in submitting a LOI, be sure to check out GCI’s eligibility guidelines and frequently asked questions here.
